Recommend me a SxS!

Agreed. The Brownings are sweet SxSs. I just ordered a Baikal IJ26 because of the condition/ruggedness/ and price. If I had the bucks I would offer to buy my buddy's BSS with English stock. In my world $3500 is a hell of a great budget for ANY gun.

There have been a few Bss' of late in the EE for 65% of that 3500 you mention ;).
There is also on that is in that 3500 too.
Yup, most are to rich for my ...look a squirrel.
Dam tree rats !!!

I have a gun or two with English style straight stocks but would not overlook a double trigger gun with a Prince of Wales grip. In fact I find them very satisfactory.

For $3500 or under you can get a very nice sxs especially in the used market. I have had quite a few of them and my personal preference is AYA. I have a #4 and a couple of the lower priced ones and I have never had a problem with them in thousands of rounds. They are my go to grouse guns.

I picked up a very nice BSW with English stock a year or so ago. The bores said "hardly used" the outside said "please, will SOMEBODY take care of me?!". It always pains me to see a gun that started life as a beautiful piece of art left to the carelessness of a slob owner with zero appreciation for it. I love to rescue the old 80 year old guns and try to get some of the neglect off them.

I went with Fabarm and FAIR for mine. The two 12's are Fabarm Classis, the FAIR is a 20ga. All 3" w/chokes, All english stock, all 28 or 30", steel proofed under the new CIP tests. The Fabarms are SST, the FAIR is the Vintage Iside w/DT's. Trouble is now, our dollar tanking may have busted your budget on those, and the std FAIR Iside. Used 471 is nice, if you can find one setup the way you want. All depends on what you want to do with it, I wanted mine for waterfowl, had to have 3" and chokes and english stock, 28" barrels. The one Fabarm is 28", the other is 30", had to settle for SST on them. No beefs with any of those guns. Only place to look at the Fabarms is on the Italian home site, they do not bring them into the US for whatever weird marketing reasons they have down there. TSE did have a couple of POW stocked 20ga when I was last there. Almost all but the Pedersoli hammer guns, which is 12ga 3" w/chokes, are Turkish, at under 5000.00 now. Like I said, depends what you want to do with it. Fausti and the others under the 5 mark, don't offer 3" w/chokes, or don't have DT's, or maybe the vendors that order them don't order that config, who knows. The Turks have their configurations right, just not convinced on the QC and build.

Well, the IJ-26 finally arrived. The pics online were not the best but I could tell there was a little colour case hardening visible. Boy was I ever mistaken. The serial is C00### so I would put this one at 1970. Please correct me if I am wrong. I know the 26 was made from 1968-1975 so seems feasible but.......what a nice surprise to open the box and find this!
