Recommend me scope for a PRS style .22lr rifle

My current setup is a T1X in a Bravo chassis with a Bushnell 3-12 LRHS scope. The rifle is pretty much an exact copy of my T3s in .223 and 6.5 Creedmoor. I’m slowly starting to realize that while the LRHS is a great scope, it’s maybe not the best for the task at hand. I’m posting this here because you folks know what PRS is all about.

Here’s what I want in a scope:

- 25 yard to infinity parallax
- Mil turrets
- Zero stop turrets
- Christmas tree style reticle
- Minimum 18x magnification
- 1000$ ish in price

The Bushnell Forge line has caught my eye because I’ve owned a 6-24x50 Bushnell 6500 which was a good scope with a wide parallax range and a good reticle. I’d buy one again but hate the thought of getting lost in turret rotations.

Any other suggestions out there? I see the Vortex Diamondbacks are popular. Any others?
 
Another vote for the Midas TAC with the 34mm ideal - we have beat on these and they have tracked very well

I compete with the Ares ETR and if the budget allows, you will really appreciate the ED glass on heavy mirage day with dull targets in field conditions. Tracking is deadly and has helped me get onto a number of podiums.

I am waiting on a Delta Javelin... could be another great option.

Can offer all of these optics...

The Vortex Strike Eagle is the other option in the same price range. The significant feature difference is that the Vortex has a illuminated reticle. Not sure whether that matters to you. I would like to have both to compare at some point.
 
How does the glass compare on the Midas to the Bushnell?

I’m not sure I want to jump to 34mm. I’ve already got a pile of 30mm rings floating around and the thought of dropping another 200$ on rings of any rubbing me the right way.

I haven't compared the Midas TAC directly to the Bushnell. My buddy owns both. I have owned alot of vortex over the years, but never again unless it's a razor gen 2. The Midas TAC has tracked perfectly for me out to 1400 meters so far. I was so impressed I bought another for a 223. The turrets feel great, solid zero stop, great reticle (for my use) and the glass is great for the price point. Lots of positive reviews online, especially snipers hide.

The reason many rimfire PRS shooters are using 34mm scopes is the massive amount of elevation travel available in scopes like the Midas TAC and Ares ETR. If you go to a CRPS match, 300m is pretty much a given... but we have shot out to 400 and that is a massive amount of up.

These Athlon scopes have proven they can make the trip and do it reliably without any other tracking woes. When you are dialing through 16 to 24mils, that scope better track and it is not ideal to crash into either end of the travel.

These 2 Athlon scopes offer 32mils of useable travel AND a reticle that can offer up to 19mils.... little stuff that helps you complete the stage faster and more accurately.

if mostly NRL22 or shorter distance matches, then the 30mm work great... again, the Midas TAC 6-24 30mm would get my nod. I competed with the Ares BTR Gen1 4.5-27 in my first season... great scope but I prefer the lower cost and simplicity of the TACs

Athlon Midas Tac or Athlon Ares ETR in the 34 mm tube is the way to go. I have both and they are excellent. On the plus side they will hold their resale value. I have a 30 mm Midas Tac as well, just not same the range in elevation adjustments. You can maximize your elevation with the Burris rings with the inserts and using a 20 or 30 moa rail on the rifle.
 
ETR is great. Cronus is better. May not be worth extra on a 22 but consider it if it might go on a centre fire down the road.

Definitely go 34mm if you can afford it. I'm actually in the process of selling a 3-12 LRTSi because although it's a great scope (I have a couple others on different rifles) for a .22 PRS rifle, there just isn't enough elevation. No real suggestions in your target price range although I'll second the suggestion to get a Bushnell (H)DMR2 if you can find one cheap. Tons of elevation, tracks perfectly and a tank of a scope. I'm replacing mine with a DMR2 Pro or XRS2.
 
I personally have a Midas tac on my open class 22. (FYI I haven’t shot in competition yet)
I do lots of reading though.
Lots of guys using the newer ffp strike eagle as well. 34mm tube, lots of travel.
I’ve never looked through one. But I would say they are vortex’s answer to the midas tac.
Worth looking at.
