Recommend Set Up For Precision Reloading?

Take a look at DNR Sports. I ordered my 6BR dies from them and they were the cheapest I could find on Redding Competition Die Set. Fast shipping as well.

They Carry Lyman and Redding Presses and reloading equipment.

Max, Sinclair International is another wonderful place to see what BR shooters use. Just keep in mind that this is for BR rifles where a few thou matter. For most other applications, the rifle will never see any benefit using this stuff.

The best investment you can make is a concentricity guage. Without one, you cannot check how good or bad your ammo is. Sometimes even the best dies make wonky ammo.

Here is a link to a reloading article I am finishing up for the LRhunting forum. will give you the highlights on what I feel matter. Low runout, good bullets the barrel likes, tuned powder loads weighed accurately, lit by a match primer in fireformed/sorted Win brass. That'll will get you shooting into the 1's and 2's if the rifle is up to the task.

PS, driving from Ont to make next years LR shoot is going to be tough. However, Westjet does land in Kelowna :)

Great article Jerry, lots of info on loading for both precision and hunting.

I would love to come down for your LR Shoot next year as well.....it's only a 3ish hour drive :D

if you own a custom built benchrest rifle you should go online an order a SINCLAIR INTERNATIONAL catalogue. they are good to deal with and from my experience are fairly reasonable. If you want to get the best out of your factory rifle, don't spend too much on the equipment. focus more on experimenting on different combinations with powder brands and weights. bullet brands, types (boatail, match, flatbase). also the different seating depths that your rifle may like.different primers and brands of brass casings. You can only do so much with a factory built rifle. It is really more about the quality of barrel, action, trigger, and who built it. If you want to do precision reloading, find out everything about your CHAMBER. Don't get me wrong, I think that anyone who reloads wants to do it to get the best possible reults. It boils down to due dilligence. Consistency equals accurracy always.

TYPE S NECK BUSHING DIE SET 260 REM (6.5MM/308 WIN) Price: $68.48 at DNRSports would be a set.

TYPE S NECK BUSHING DIE 260 REM (6.5MM/308 WIN) Price: $39.15 would be just the Neck die.

Remember though that these do not include the sizing bushing, only the dies. You have to purchase the bushing seperatley.

When I bought my 6BR dies I would have ordered the bushing at the same time had I known this before hand.

If you are already reloading the .260 and you're reasonably happy with the bullet seating and just want to order the neck sizing die, then just get that, if you want/need the whole set-up then you are going to want the neck-die, the seater and a body die to give the rest of the body a little squeeze every 5-or-so reloads.
so, part# 78531

Oh, and you'll need a shell holder

What he said. For the extra $30 you may as well get the seating and body die if you don't already have a seater and a FL sizer for when the shoulder needs a push back.

What about the Type S Match full die set.

Part number 36531. In the 260 Remington line.

I am having trouble understanding what I need here, so when I get to ordering I know eactly what I want. Sounds like full length sizing will have to be done, but not as often.

If you get the Redding Neck Die SET you will have a neck sizer/decapper, a bullet seater and a body die to set the shoulder back when needed.

The type S Match 36531 is a FL Size/Decapper and a Seating Die.

For my 6BR I use the Redding Competition Neck Bushing Die Set with the micrometers.

TYPE S – MATCH
Bushing Neck Die Set (38531)
•Type S – Bushing Neck Sizing Die
•Body Die
•Competition Seating Die

TYPE S
Bushing Neck Die Set (78531)
•Type S – Bushing Neck Sizing Die
•Body Die
•Regular Series 92000 Seating Die

COMPETITION
Bushing Neck Die Set (58531)
•Competition Bushing
Neck Sizing Die
•Body Die
•Competition Seating Die

Are the three you want to choose between if you want to neck size.

Thanx CyaN1de.

Where are some good places to buy at reasonable prices?

Sinclair's has been mentioned. And DNR Sports. Both American.

And also how hard/tough is it to bring reloading equipment over from the states. By mail order?

I have dealt with both Sinclairs and DNR and have had no problems with either getting stuff over the border. There are no restrictions on loading equipment, only loading components (bullets, brass, powder, primers).

You could try Natchez as well, I am currently awaiting my RCBS Chargemaster from them.

Another CGN member has had "slow shipping" from DNR but I think it just got caught up in customs as mine sailed through in about 2 weeks. Don't be surprised if it takes about a month to get through customs though. It's hit or miss with those guys and, with the dollar the way it is and the season that is upon us, they are probably swamped. Might be a good thing though as they cannot check every single package coming through which might work in your favor.

Kevin at DNR even declared a lower value on my dies (and no I didn't ask him to) so there was no tax for mine when they came, only the $5 handling fee and a nominal GST charge on the handling fee. YMMV
