Hi All, I would like to install peepsights on my 1978 Marlin 336 rifle. Not sure Williams or Skinner....any suggestions would be great before I waste my money.
I had a Skinner set mounted, and went back to the factory rear blade.
I found that I lost too much of my sight picture with the small aperture and the larger hole was too much. The other thing was that it was a bit of a pain to adjust elevations - always need an allen tool. With the factory sights..they are simple, easy to elevate and are pretty accurate - all things considered.
The Skinner is (complete with 2 apertures) now collecting dust on my shelf.
XS Sights make a great product. Built tougher than the williams or the Skinner. Comes with 2 aperature sizes. I use the .230" lets in lots of light when hunting.
I had a XS sight on my 1895 guide gun thought they were the best now I have a Williams fire sight on my BLR and I think I prefer them, I sold the 1895 to a friend and I would love a chance at a direct comparison at the range.
