Recommendations for a bolt action 300WM for BC hunting

One of these years I hope to stumble onto the legendary pile of cheap like new 300 with 19 shells , 44 Mags with 2 shots taken, cheap quads and sleds when the “patch slows down and a hot tip on the whereabouts of the guy wth the 200 mph carburetor. :) Hasn’t happened yet, but I remain optimistic.

Ha, I've got multiple rifles with less than 20 rounds through them (including a M70 300WM).

I do hope to rectify this once I've retired though, however with the cost of components these days they just may go up on the for sale block.

Shall I PM you if they do? :)

Remington 700 BDL (used of course) or Winchester 70 are also viable options. If all you find in those are synthetic stocks, you could always cruise the EE for a used Wood Stock or order a Boyds laminate to replace the synthetic later on.

I bought a patch slow down truck once and sold it for as much as I paid for it

I’m looking for all the cheap safari rifles guys couldn’t shoot personally…

Know a guy that a few years ago was selling a 340 Wby with less than a box through it, it wasn't cheap and his claimed reason was the price of ammo.

Honestly I'm drawn to 2 rifles, I own one, had one but was robbed of it, 1st is the Winchester XPR, I love the rifles series, the the Alaskan model 70 is mint also, and the second is the Remington 700 long range, tho I'm sickened by Remington's since 2000, I've had no luck at sll

If you can find a M70 Extreme Weather then that would be one of my picks for an off the shelf BC hunting rifle.

The Browning will work just fine, too. Nothing wrong with that pick.

My Model 70 EW is my favorite hunting rifle. Best off the shelf rifle out there. Browning white gold medallion Abolts and X bolts sure are sweet looking.

Nothing wrong with an x bolt or an older AboltII. I have been running one in .300 WM stainless for the past 25 years hunting in BC without any issues. Great rifles...

I've been very pleased with the x-bolt pro long range and white gold medallion in 300 win. I briefly had a Sako finnlight, which although a great rifle was too light in that caliber.

I wouldn't hesitate to get a cz 550 if you find a used one.

If you want to drop a little more coin on it, prophet river has a Sauer 101 Alaska left from the MF charleton closeout.

I'll buck the trend, I run a T3X Stainless Lightweight in .300WM and the recoil really isnt anything to write home about. Its light, super accurate and I'll admit its not something you'd pound more than 25 rounds through in one session. A stout load in a lever 45/70 feels like it kicks harder and there's a simple solution called a limbsaver. Me I just take a towel to the range and fold and hang it over my shoulder if Im shooting a bunch.(not proud). You'll carry it a whole lot more than you're gonna shoot it.
