Recommendations for a first shotgun

I've got 2,500 rounds through mine now without a single hiccup. There's a guy on shotgun world who has almost 26,000 rounds through his.

In the trap and skeet world, where 5000+ rounds per season is quite normal, 2500 rounds isn't much. Even 26,000 rounds pales compared to shotguns with 100,000 or more rounds through them.

I would stay away from the Express and any Mossberg. The wood on the express is well, not wood, while the shotgun itself may be serviceable it will not retain any value. The Mossberg will jam so frequently you will not be able to enjoy the sport.

Bottom line is your going to have to save up some more cash, but you will be making a smarter decision. If your looking for a shotgun for both trap and hunting, look hard at the 870 Wingmaster, in either 26" or 28" barrel depending on what fits you best. This will last you a long long time and allow you to enjoy either hobby without issue.
