I have a buddy who is looking for a full size non-synthetic pistol (so no Glocks, M&Ps, USPs, etc.) chambered in 40 S&W to complement his S&W M&P. Moneywise he wants to stay in the $600-$800 range so that rules out the high end 1911s and a lot of new guns but he's open to good used so I was able to come up with the following: Beretta Model 96 (used), CZ75, Sig 226 (used) and SAM Omega 6 for him.

Any other recommendations? Thanks for the input.

Get a used or refurbished Sig 226.

I love Glocks and have carried them (40 S&W G23 and G35) where I have previously lived, but my Sig 226 (DAK) was more accurate and just as reliable as the Glocks!

Norinco NP40 (copy of the CZ85 in .40S&W), $349 new at Marstar. If your friend is really stuck on the $600-800 price range I can buy one and sell it to him for about $300 more than it costs me, and we'll both be happy.

If he gets a Browning Hi-Power he can buy the relevant parts to convert it to 9mm as well, which might be nice for him, but apparently you can't convert a 9mm Hi-Power to .40S&W. But I haven't seen a Hi-Power in either calibre for under $900 new, nor many in .40S&W on the used market.

Sig 226. Then get the 22/9/357sig kits if you want to expand... CZ75 also a great choice. (hk Usp is the best gun I own by far and I thought I'd never buy a polymer pistol...)
