Frankly, a used Aimpoint is still an Aimpoint - anything else, even if it's new, isn't.
Has any one had any experience with a holo site like an eotech, compared with a red dot? I am getting close to looking at a Vortex Sparc 2 or maybe a used Aimpoint. But Iv always loved the look of the Eotech, just zero experiance with them.

There is one thing you need to keep in mind when comparing a red dot to a holographic sight such as the eotech.
The red dot is always centered in the viewfinder and is dependant on having the same cheek weld every time for it to be on target.
If your head is not in the same plane you will not hit POA. This is why some people like to co-witness a red dot so that if the 2 points are in line they know they will hit point of aim.
With a holographic sight such as the eotech as long as you see the dot it will hit POA assuming it was zeroed at that distance.
I have the EXPS 2-2 which has a raised quick release base and has dual dots so you can have both a 100m-300m and a 300m-500m zero.
The other advantage of a holographic sight is that there is no forward projection of light therefore it cannot be seen by the tangos downrange.

Hi,
Can anyone recommend from first hand experience a good quality sub $500 1 x red dot for use on a 10" AR for 0 - 400 m CQB type use?
I have a Vortex Strike Fire on my 14.5" AR and I love that red dot, but when I tried it on the 10" AR the balance was all messed up and it felt awkward.
Looking for a light no frills long battery life good quality 3 or 4 MOA 1 x red dot that will co-witness with MBUS.
Any first had recommendations are appreciated.
Dealers welcome.
Marc
Surefire SFMB 5.56Unrelated to optics but what type of brake is that? VG6 gamma? How do u like it
Maybe with some of the cheapy sights but this is completely wrong regarding better sights like Trijicons, Meprolights and Aimpoints. You can check it by moving your head around and seeing that the dot stays on the same point of aim. There is one thing you need to keep in mind when comparing a red dot to a holographic sight such as the eotech.
