Recommendations for compact 7mm-08

I'm looking To purchase a 7mm-08 With an 18 or 20" barrel. What do you guys all recommend. I know a lot of you will recommend tikka But They Don't have An actual short action and that's a deal breaker for me
 
There was an old browning micro medallion 7-08 on the e&e a few days ago for a good price. We’ve used a couple micros over the years, been very pleased with them.

^^ This ^^ ..... A 20" bbl is fine for a bolt action carbine.

Sometimes just a short bbl alone doesn't make it work. It's more important to get the proper combination of bbl length, bbl contour, stock and scope for best handling.
 
Model 7 Remington, ruger compact, or my personal favourite the Winchester model 70. I believe they had or have a model 70 compact available in 7-08. Truly beautiful rifle. I believe browning also makes a micro in 7-08. The other one I’ve seen that’s not specifically a compact but very light is the Kimber hunter. I believe it can be brought down to about 5ish pounds if you dig the rubber crud out of the stock cavity. Anyway, can’t go wrong with the 7-08. Not all of the above will have a 20 inch tube, but a good gunsmith can cure that problem for not a lot of money!
 
I use a Remington 700 Youth. Its in 7mm08, has a 20" barrel. Previous owner put it in a full size B&C stock. It could be lighter, but I'm a lefty so my options are limited.

I would think Jerry at Mystic Precision would be able to help you source a barrel.
 
See post #8 these are fantastic rifles, or do what I just did: I took a T3x stainless cut the barrel to 19” used Tally mounts and a 1-4x scope, with the mag loaded ready for the field it weighs 7 lbs
 
I have a Weatherby Vanguard S2 compact in 7-08 that I really like. It has a 20' barrel, short LOP, reasonably lightweight and handles great in the bush.

Fantastic rifles! I had one and sadly sold it. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. Can't find the one that was on the EE
 
I'm really hooked on my Kimber Montana 7-08 with Swaro Z3 3x9-36. About 6lbs with scope ..... Compact enough ...? Rifle alone from EE
