Hey, just looking for some recommendations on a solid budget friendly option to get my son started on shotguns. Our local wildlife club does trap shooting every week, and the 12 gauge is a bit much for him to handle. I would like something in a 20 gauge so we could also transition into bird hunting in the next year or so.

I was looking at the Charles Daly 101 Single Shot 20 Ga 3" Black 26" online and wondering what the general consensus on that model is?

I would look for something heavier than a single shot. The weight of the gun reduces felt recoil. A semi in 20 guage may be the softest shooting option. Budget friendly pumps in 20 too.
Just my two cents.

I bought a winchester sxp 20ga pump wood stock and it's very easy on the wallet and easier on the shoulder. Very reliable too. My freinds 14yr old daughter loved shooting clays with it. I gradually stepped up the loads to magnum 3" from target and she didn't mind at all. Good luck!
