Im right handed, but left-eye dominant. As one can imagine, this causes plenty of issues when shotgunning right-handed (basically, I suck, I can't hit a damn thing lol). I have decided to switch to shooting left-handed, and I was hoping some other people have gone down the same road, and have some advice on making the transition.
First and foremost, it feels really awkward. My stock was a bit too long right-handed, but when I hold it left its ridiculous. It feels like the length of pull is a few inches longer on my left side vs my right (obviously not the case, but thats how it feels) I was going to shorten the stock about an inch before I decided to change handedness...Would changing which side I hold the gun also change what length of pull I need/want?
Also, recoil just feels weird on my left side. I guess that one is just a matter of getting used to it?
Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? Or anything I can do at home? Or is getting out there and putting a bunch of shells through my shotgun really the only way to get a feel for shooting lefty? I know practice is a necessity, but are there other things that will help?
