Hi there, this is totally not my area of expertise and while I did a cursory search online, it seems like there are a couple of options and because I have never tried mounting a designed-for-handgun red dot on a long gun (rifle or shotgun), I thought I'd ask those of you who are much more well informed than I am on these matters.

So basically, I have a 507c x2 red dot. I mistakenly assumed it comes with various mounting options, including onto a picatinny, as exists on the 1301. Clearly I was wrong.

So it looks like I have two choices:

1. remove the picatinny and buy some mount that is compatible with how I would mount the 507c.
2. buy some mount that is a QD type of mount that both works to secure the 507c to it, but then the mount can then secure onto a picatinny

There are a few things that I may wish to consider - whether I want to remove the built in sights that came with the shotgun or find some mount high enough that I can co-witness with the irons.

I honestly don't know where to begin here, or what is perhaps a recommended practice/configuration.

My M4 has a HS515GM, which already has the QD for the picatinny rail. I could have bought another 515GM but I just wanted to try something different. Unfortunately, it does not appear that I thought through all the nuances here (what else is new?). So any feedback and suggestions would be welcome (aside from the "why did you get that sight" or reminding me how dumb I am)...thank you!

I removed the rail on mine and bought a proper mount for the holosun
It was expensive but worth it, the holosun now co witnesses with the ghost sights

What options are there if you don’t want to co witness. I’d like to take the ghost rings right off to mount the red dot as low as possible

Casey is the man.
Yeah, he seems like a good guy. I look forward to doing business with him. I am also glad to hear the recommendations for the TacOrd RMR mount as opposed to the more expensive Airidus one. I am going to get the additional improved sight though I still am waffling between the fixed circle and the half circle, both would be co-witnessing.

I got the fixed 'thin' circle but wish I'd gone with the half ring now.
The irons now are a back up should the dot quit, I could do with a less cluttered site picture.
Tacord is local to me and I pop in often so I am sure I'll grab the half ring at some point, or maybe just snip what I've got.

Scalarworks direct to 1301 mount is an amazing option.
I used it on my A300UP with a Holosun and my buddy bought it when I sold my A300, and he uses it on his 1301. It's better quality than the SJ one but does cost more.

I really like the half ring with it co-witnessed, IMO its very cluttered with the full circle.
