Recommendations on a classic rifle

Ruger 77 Tang safety in 30-06. Future classic if it already isn't one. Buy now as the price keeps going up on the one's in good condition.
Current Model 70 Supergrade as others have suggested.
Early Pre-64 M70 Featherweight in 270 with the aluminum butt plate.
Pre-64 Supergrade in pretty much any caliber provided you can find unicorns.

I have not personally owned one but have handled them and they seem well put together. One complaint I have heard is that some are made on Santa Barbara receivers

I don’t think I’d let a Santa Barbara action stop me from a nice custom mauser. I’ve owned a couple SB’s over the years and there’s not a thing wrong with them as far as I can tell!

There's one on EE right now. Good price too. I was just admiring the deep shiny bluing on my tang safety 7x57. Total keeper!

I currently own two ZKK rifles, the older ones are very well made and a good choice for your purposes. In the later years they dropped the pop up peep sight and made the finish cheaper and stocks were not as well fitted and finished. The actions are a classic, fine upgrade to the old M98 Mauser style, will all the good points and no bad ones. Except perhaps the trigger. Some don't like the single set trigger, but the curved, non-set trigger they all were shipped with is OK. All the rifles made in Brno Czech republic / Czechoslovakia whether in the CZ factory or Zbrojovka Brno are good rifles. I personally like the Model 21H best of all for handling and style, the ZG47 best for the action. The ZKK is a combination of these features with a few of their own.

Thoughts or experiences on a Brno ZKK-601?

I've owned 3 602's to date in 375 H&H. You could do much much worse if you want to carry a 375.
Two of mine were the standard grade models ,both had single set triggers.
My favorite was the upgraded model with better wood and the forearm tip.Again with the single set trigger.
Also one deluxe 601 in .223 with the single set trigger as well.
Built like tanks. Accurate rifles. Not highly polished safe queens but great hunting rifles built to use.
