My girlfriend enjoyed trying out the Grizzly I got a while ago, but after only a few rounds had had enough of the recoil. We've been talking about getting her a shotgun in a smaller gauge (and with a short LOP as well) but haven't had any luck finding something she likes. She is a black-guns-only kind of girl (ie my kind ;)) and those seem to be few and far between in the <12g shotgun world.

The only things I've found so far is perhaps the rem 870 Express Shurshot Synthetic Cantilever:
870-exp-ss-syn-cls-prod.ashx

Bonus points that the buttstock is mildly reminiscent of her beloved CX Storm.

Another option is the 870 Express Compact Synthetic:

With the adapter from S&J, she could kit this one out pretty much however she wanted, assuming that it will fit a 20g receiver (unknown at this time, I'm assuming not, badboybeeson please chime in if you see this).

Any other ideas folks? All input appreciated.

how bout a 20g mossberg 500 they pop up on the EE every once in a while
or get her a semi as they tend to soak up a bit more recoil

fit whatever you get her with a adjustable lop stock

the 20ga 870 Express Compact Jr. comes with a short LOP stock and an 18.5" vent rib barrel threaded for chokes.

Knoxx makes 20ga versions of their stocks, but if i had it to do over again i would *not* buy any 20ga specific stock: i would buy a cheap $15 12ga slingplate and grind/file it into a 12>20ga adapter, so that i could fit any 12ga stock on it.
there would be a minor 'step' down from the stock to the narrower 20ga receiver but really no big deal.

You might also consider trying some of the managed recoil 12ga shells. Sellier Bellot sells slugs by the 25 pack for about $20 and Remington sells both slugs and buckshot. The other option is to pick up a mec press and then you can load to suit both of you.

Remington has a 20 gauge version of the home defense. It has an 18" barrel and comes with a +2 mag extension. Install a youth stock, or any short length of pull stock and you're set.

Just put a Knoxx Spec-Op Recoil reducing stock on the Grizzly. The recoil reduction is unbelievable and you also have the adjustable length of pull. So many options for an easy shooting 12 ammo wise also. Win-win IMHO.

As suggested the SpecOps is a good first step. You can let her try it on your Grizzly and then if she likes it go with 12G or if it's still too much get the 20G

Making a sling plate adapter from 12G-20G is not to hard as MBP suggested and can be done with hand files and a sharpie and a little patience.

I made one a while back for a Rem 760 which is the same size reveiver as the 20G Rem.
