Recommendations on decent binos

Hey guys

I'm looking for recommendations on a decent set of binoculars.

I'll mainly be using them for glassing big game and scouting waterfowl, but they'll get some use on bird and bat surveys at work.

I'm looking for 10x42s and am hoping to spend $3-600, if possible.

I've been eyeing the Vortex Diamondbacks. so if you have experience with these, or something similar, let me know what you thing.

I have the diamondbacks, great glass for the money. Also picked up some Nikon Prostaff on demo/clearance that are every bit as good or more.

Like everything else, prices are considerably higher than a few years ago. Your $ range is entry level into the bottom of mid. Quality should be much higher if you spend to the top of your range.Personally, I know more about scopes than binos. Search around and pick up a clearance sale. Don't know where you live, but if you live were you can handle various binos....do, then search for bargains online.
 
I picked up a pair of 10x42 Diamondbacks a few years ago when Cabelas was liquidating the older model, I thought I would try them out for only $200. The glass is good for the hunting that I do, which includes a lot of twilight hours. I don't spend hours behind them, usually just a few minutes at a time and they work great for that purpose. I don't have experience with many other binos, though I did try some Swaro's a few times and they were very light and very clear, but just haven't got myself up to spending $3k on binos
 
can anyone give advice on which EE page to watch for binos? tried optics, but there mostly seemed to be scopes and mounting hardware on it.

I have had great luck with my Pentax DCF’s. Nice and clear, have been robust, and no fogging issues. Have had them for maybe 10 years.
 
Several bird/binocular forums give high praise to the NIKON Monarch 5's and the 8x42's as well as the 10x42's come in about $450 +/- . A friend and I went to SAIL for a look as he's wanting to get a decent set under $500 and these easily beat everything else we looked through. If you have the opportunity check out the PENTAS DCF's as recommended by LeadHammer. The 8x42's have excellent glass and are very tough.
