Just wondering, does anyone have any secret little gems that maybe I don't know about, in terms of a rear-sight mounted (dovetail mount I guess its called? The little holosights that mount in place of the rear sight) Holo or red dot sight, for the 1911?

Inexpensive + sturdy and reliable are key here.

Something strong and small like a Leupold Delta, but maybe less expensive.

Maybe the Burris series?

PS On a side note, maybe someone has some feedback, overall, on the use of holosights on the 1911? Is it pointless?

Would I be better off just acquiring a set of nice tritium sights (front and rear)?

Thank you!

C-More for race gun's but if you are weekend plinker Burris Fast Fire II with the mounting bracket for your rear sight dovetail works good too. As for the standard sight's some people like it cuz you never have to worry about batteries and it's lighter than a red dot set-up. Although choosing a red dot makes target aquisition quicker and also is great for thoughs moving targets because of the un-obstructed field of view. All though if you are use to pistol shooting with irons and only using 1 eye it is dificult to shoot with booth eyes open for the first little bit but after that it's all gravey baby.
;)
One day I will own this and call her my baby...
One day.

Sweeeettt... Very nice choice.

I am a weekend plinkster, so as I suspected, Burris is the way to go...now to find a cheap one! haha

I actually usually shoot with both eyes open, so its not too hard to get adjusted to a red dot :p
