I'm having issues with my Luger. The previous round ejects as it should, but the next round does not always feed into the chamber. When it jams the new round ends up poking out of the top of the breach, as if it totally missed the chamber.

Sorry if my terminology sucks, i'll try to grab a picture next time it happens.

The ammo I used was "Combat Masters remanufactured Ammunition" 9mm 124gr
It was recommended to me by a local range.

Try something hotter. The Luger likes it's dinner piping hot!
Basically, you may need to reload. 9mm Lugers are notoriously fussy when it comes to digesting north american 9mm ammo.

Because of its peculiar action, the P08 is known to be a capricious feeder. I don't know what bullet was seated on that remanufactured ammo, but you should stick to fmj ball. I have used 115gr and 124gr standard loads, commercial ammo without any difficulty. I hope this helps.

PS: Most times where I have had the exact same feeding problem, it was due to the magazines..... I found older beat up mags didn't work well, neither did the Chinese repros. The best mags I have found that work between 3 different Lugers are mint condition originals, or Italian made Mec Gar mags. Marstar carries the Mec Gar mags. Hope this helps!

Oddly enough, Blazer 115gr with the brass casings works flawlessly in mine (in my P38 and Radom as well). And I've have nothing but trouble with the UMC 115gr.

Lugers like 115gr FMJ rounds with standard loads, don't believe the "Luger's like hot loads" opinions you may run across. You run the risk of damaging the toggle train, and if you have a matching number Luger and break parts, you just destroyed the value of your pistol as a collectable.

Winchester "white box" 115gr FMJ is often recommended and I have used Blazer Brass 115 gr FMJ with good success also.

Have you tried shooting it with different magazines? Sometimes the magazine spring weakens over time and causes feed issues, and the magazine lips can get bent or worn as well. Wolff Gunsprings has replacement magazine springs, and it is not a bad idea to replace the firing pin spring and main spring while you are at it.

I don't recommend using the original wood or black phenolic based mags, as they can be fragile and are expensive, or if matching, impossible to replace. Aftermarket Mec Gar magazines usually work great - Marstar stocks them.

The Magazine is in rough shape. I just ordered one from Marstar to see if it helps.
Thanks for the fast responses guys! I'll let you know the outcome.

I'm having issues with my Luger.

Use only 124 FMJ loaded with slow to medium burning rate powders.
OAL should be as close to max
Lugers were not designed for HI impulse modern fast burning rate powders. Most cartridges today are loaded with these kind of powders and that is why problems with Lugers occurs.

I used 4.2 grains of Bullseye and a 121 grain truncated cast bullet. This load would work on just about everything.
boiler plate: Use at your own risk.......
