i just purchased a new remington 870 express super magnum. while ready through the user manuel i came across "for best results, we recommend that you use remington ammo. is this a sales ploy or is it legit. has anyone have problems using other brand ammo.

Federal ammo is king IMO, and winchester is reliable and cheap if not a little dirty. The 100 round value packs are notorious for jamming.

it's a ploy- the 870 design has been around for years and being a pump, doesn't care what you feed it- basically shuck, shuck, boom- repeat- like someone telling you you must use only shell or sunoco 90 gas

I shoot whatever's cheap and keep er clean. You should have no problems shooting anything through your pump. Semis are sometimes pickey, but That's why you bought a pump right?
