Recommended AR sights?

I ask, because well, I took the plunge and pre-ordered the NEA-15 CQB 10.5 !
Although the gun is far away from being in my possesion, I'm starting to research sight options.

My original setup was going to be Magpul MBUS front & rear flip-ups and the NcStar Tactical Triple Threat Combo from Marstar, but now I'm second guessing myself- as I figure: "When am I going to have a need to use a tactical flashlight at the range?"

Now granted, the Tactical Triple Threat oozes with tacticoolness, but is it practical? Should I be looking at a different type of setup?

I'm running a Lucid HD7 (waiting on the x2 magnifier) with the Magpul MBUS rear sight only since I'm using a Norinco M4 with front iron sight and it's definitely more than adequate for the range.

I've only ever used the carry handle BUISs that came with the rifles I've owned. Never been to war, so carrying a duffle bag in the back of the car was good enough for me, and the old carry handle sights are tried and true.

I am in the same boat so to speak; just ordered an NEA-15 (14.5" w/ 9" quad rail) and I'm trying to decide which sights to put on it. I was looking at the Daniel Defense front and rear combo, but it is not in stock anywhere and I've since started wondering if the rear sight will interfere with a Vortex SPARC. I know the SPARC can be mounted high, but I will not be able to achieve co-witness in that proposed set up. Does it really matter? Well no I guess, but just thinking out loud...

I'd probably just stick with a set of Magpul MBUS. You could go with Troy, but you might as well put the money saved into a better optic.

Yeah, I'm liking the low profile of the Magpul MBUS. Maybe even a decent reflex?

Cancer - minor point but the carry handle is not a Back Up Iron Sight. It is a primary sighting system. By the way, good for you to keep using it. Skill with irons is a good thing to have IMO

I personally went with a more conventional optic sight for both my ARs. They do have an illuminated reticule but do not depend on batteries to function because they have a conventional recticulel. Basically you look through it and it works. Many of these are also easily adjustable for elevation and windage which can be useful depending on what different ranges you shoot at. That is one key reason for me staying away from a red dot sight.

For CQB I actually crank a lot of elevation for different yardages between 30 and 10 yards. Means that my bullets hit right a the center of the dot on my scope and I don't have to aim off as I work closer. Of course you also have to have time to do this so YMMV (no, I don't adjust the scope for the shooting while walking stage - I can barely walk and shoot - adding more would be a disaster for my feeble mind.)

This is what I have, and I rather like them... Never cared for the Magpul MBUS

I also have the LMT rear sight which I like because it is the carry handle sight without the handle. Would still be using it but I needed to switch to a folding sight.

YHM flip ups with a fine front post and an Aimpoint micro.
I personally like this setup,compact and works well out to 400yds. for me. Might try some longer shots next year...I would be pretty happy to make hits at 500+ with irons

I would suggest you run with whatever you use at your job so that you can practice and build up your muscle memory.

ok- so mods, move this to where-ever you make think it belongs, just wanted to get this out here....

anyways, i just accepted an ERT Captain position, and the team uses airguns for drills and what not....

now i obviously know most drills to take me new team through, but i want to throw some unconventional drills at them because i'm sure the guys are tired of the drills they've been doing for 3+ years....

0->500m Nightforce NXS 2.5-10

Both are bomb proof optics.

The latest Vortex Sparc comes with 3 position mount set, so you can 1/3 height co witness as you would through a T-1 via mbus or the Troys etc... That is if you dont want to pony to an eotech or t-1 etc... I can't speak for how good a Sparc holds up on an AR as I only run it on a .22 Ruger, and a T-1 on ARs and other optics.

2) does weight/profile of the optic matter?
3)What's your budget?

I had to choose just one..... twice. Both were ACOG's. A TA01 and a TA31, both were great for me and wont ever die. My personal favorite is the TA31, for the type of shooting I like, but most prefer the TA01.
