Recommended bases and rings - Duralyt 1.2-5x36 on pre-64 Model 70 30.06

Greetings;
I'm considering ordering Tally bases and 30 mm rings for this set up - the lowest. Has anyone mounted this model Duralyt on a pre 64 model 70 and if so "how low can you go" without alterations?
