This year I plan to hunt Northern Ontario moose with my Tikka Lite in 270 Win.calibre, what bullet is recommended? Federal TSX (130gr), Winchester AccuBondsCT (140gr), Winchester XP3 (150gr) or the Fed.Nosler partitions (150gr)?

Thank you .

I just started loading 140 gr hornady interlocks as my deer round , but they should have the sd for moose . I would go to a premium bullet like a partition or a tsx in 140 -150 grn if i used it for moose though .

I would go with the 150 Partition, but like everyone else has already said, any of those bullets will work. If one of them shoots good out of your rifle, go for it.

Thank you for the reply, I don't reload so I have to buy commercial ammo. I noticed Federal doesn't carry the TSX (read about the great results from them) in 150gr only in 130gr, would that do for moose or just go with the Nosler partitions (150gr) because its a heavier bullet?

My experience with the 270 is that the regular 130 grain bullets blow up, almost on impact. Even one of the regular type 150 grain bullets, I think it was a Sierra, blew up in a mountain goat, with only the jacket found, without a speck of lead in it! A 150 grain Nosler partition, on the other hand, went through a large elk, a bit on the angle from broadside, and was recoverd in the skin on the far side. It was perfect example of what a bullet should look like after going through an animal.
Dominion ammunition used to load a 160 grain round nose in the 270. It had a good reputation on large game, but of course, was not a long range load.

The 130gr tsx will do fine on moose.Having seen the results of the 140gr tsx(out of the 7mm remmag) on moose and elk, they seem to penetrate as much or more than the 175gr partition.

I know for a fact that a 150 grain Hornady Interlock out of a 270 will kill a moose.

I am using 140 grain fail safes in my BLR .270WSM and I took a big cow at 75 yards with 1 shot. That 1 shot dropped the cow dead in her tracks and when we gutted it, it was the most devistation I have ever seen from a bullet, I couldn't believe the hitting power.

Last moose I killed with my 270 was a young bull, I was using 130 tsx at 200yds, it entered his left side broke a rib and passed into the right shoulder and smashed it. he went about 20yds. everyone says you need big bullets, but I think good bullets and shot placement work 100% of the time.
