Thanks for all the info on the Springfield XD. My next question looks for recommendations on caliber. I am looking at purchasing an XD in 9mm. The only reason for my choice is cost of ammunitiion. I am sure there are a lot of people out there with an opinion on this, what the best caliber is and what the best price is. At the end of the day I am paper punching and want to get the most bang for my buck!

Is 9mm the way to go?

Thanks in advance

Yes.
The other (cheaper) option is a 22LR!

Sounds like you've already got it all figured out. Enjoy your XD9!:dancingbanana:

P.S.> You will have to get a 45ACP & .40S&W eventually. Don't fight it.;)

unless you reload, stick with 9mm and 22.

The only additional commentary is if you intend to try IPSC 9mm will be at a power factor disadvantage over 40S&W.

XDs are allowed in Production Division where it's all scored minor. Therefore, no PF disadvantage with 9mm...

I'm a cheap bastard. With my wife and both boys shooting, we all shoot the 9mm pistols. Used to have a .45 1911 Norc, but that became a dedicated .22LR with a conversion kit.

So now we only have .22LR and 9mm pistols. Lots cheaper that way. Now with my 18 yr old at Queer's Univ in Kingston, I'm glad that I went with the .22LR and 9mm formats.

Hope this helps,
Barney
