Recommended mags for Ruger 10/22?

I own eight of the ti aluminum 10/22 mags only used 5 of them so far after cycling about 75 to 100 rounds through each
of them they work great . little to no adjustment i use them in a sr/22 and three other 10/22s

I also have a number of Butler Creek steel lips had a few jams but they seem to get better the more you
use them

I have a Ram Line 50 round that jams almost every shot, but I also have two 25 rounders that always work perfectly.

Of course the factory 10 round works perfectly as well. It has never screwed up with any kind of ammo.

TI25's (composite and aluminum) or Ruger OEM mags are all I use.
I've also had good luck with Butler Creek Steel Lips though.....

stay away from the tactical innovation aluminum ones.
crap to the power of 10 and at $80 + per they are by far the worst on the market per price.
I have a few TI aluminum mags and they all work flawlessly... just to balance that comment. Agree though that they're unnecessarily expensive, since my butler creek steel lips work equally well for much less.

I've been having excellent results with sleeveless Promag AA922 mags purchased from Dave at Hical. Close to 2k rounds through the pair of them and no problems (a few rapid fire mag dumps included). The mags can be completely disassembled for cleaning.

Make sure you spend the time to "tune" the alignment springs as per the instructions. When i first recieved the mags, I just loaded them up and used them right out of the box. Nothing but FTF's due to rim locking and cartridge misalignment. I then spent literally five minutes tweaking the alignment spring in both mags and the difference was dramatic to say the least, with only one or two failure to feeds on each mag. I loaded each mag to capacity and left them to sit for a week and have had zero problems since. To date I have used only CCI Blazer and Federal Automatch bulk packs with excellent results. I also tried Winchester bulk copper plated hollow points but they did not feed very well.

To date i have not had any wear issues with the replaceable plastic feed lips on these mags. The feed lips are very easy to remove and replace and I understand that replacements are easy to find and inexpensive (something like $8.00 I believe?) Why Promag didn't use steel lips is beyond me as I would have gladly paid extra for them.

Hmm, I never got any instructions with mine (came with my Nomad). Are they on-line anywhere? My mag jams every other round.

I had the same experience. No special instructions came with them, but i was able to get 1 of 3 to work semi reliably by shaving a bit down on the feed ramp. All three that i had came with some extra plastic bumps on the feed ramps, it appars to be there from the mold.

I got some 32 rd promags working with a lot of filing and some foam tape. Another product that didn't complete the R&D process before being kicked out the door. I had to file the feed lips almost as much as possible. Any more and I would have removed the lip that holds the rds in the mag and it still needed to be spaced away from the receiver with foam tape. They were great for about 1000 rds then the followers would jam up with about 20-25 rds in and start denting the top rd if I tried to force it. They're in the garbage.

Every Promag magazine I've ever owned was a jam-O-matic POS, no matter what I did to it!
I guess it's what-ever floats your boat......

This is exactly why I love to come to CGN... Just when you think you <might> have a problem... someone shows post a picture that make you seem like a <reasonable> guy
(Note to self: Save the picture from Wham-O... in case the wife ask why I need some many 10/22 magazines)

-

As far as magazines are concerned
- Factory 10rds are pretty much 100% reliable
- TI composite are not far behind (98% reliable)
- Surprisingly enough, the Black Dog drums are working pretty good... in 'some' gun. In 1 10/22. I get a whole bunch FTF... while they work pretty much flawless in the other...

ive always had good luck with steel lips and i use them and stock 10rd ones pretty much exclusively.
i am tempted to invest in some of the stock ruger BX 50's that are in canada now but am waiting for some reports on them before i pull the trigger (pun intended)

Good to know, I was really thinking about picking up a tac innovations. What was the main problems with them?
