My wife is considering getting her Restricted but wants to try out my 1911 first. She's a little slip of a thing and has trouble with recoil from most of my other heavier guns - but she's used to, and likes, .22.

Part of the reason why I haven't started her with the .45 is because I dont want to scare her off - between that and wanting a cheaper way to plink (and possibly compete) I'd like some advice on what to look for in a .22 conversion kit.

Bear in mind, my 1911 is just the norc rip off. Its not stellar, but it works and I like it. I've googled a bit and it seems like most kits seem to weigh in around the same ~$350 price tag as the pistol itself. Can anyone recommend something less pricey?

Thanks

If price is an issue, you'll be better off buying a used ruger target. Conversions are not cheap. They are generally quite accurate, but a lot of R&D had to go into them to get them to work in the first place.

Do you reload ? if so some of the target loads for .45 are quite tame although you may have to go to a lower weight recoil spring.
