I purchased a rifled slug barrel (20 inch, open sights) for my 870. Any suggestions on the best slug to use on deer. 100 Yard shots would be the absolute maximum.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
+1, I doubt you'd see much difference between slug loads at 100 yards. There are a couple veteran slug-gunners on the boards that easily group less than 2" at 100 yards and less than 5" at 200 yards, which is damn accurate for a slug gunprosper said:to '100 yards absolute maximum' it really makes little difference. Get a premium, and go for it. Even if it only groups 6" at 100, that's sufficient for your needs
I think those are the ones from winchester, come in a grey box. They are the cheap sabot slugs. I use those for the first few shots each year when I put my scope back on again. I dont mind the partition gold but want to give the Remington core lokt ultras a try again.Calum said:What ever happend to the hour glass shaped BRI Sabots?
Mind you the shotgun book I saw them in was a few years old.
