Just winding up for our first run at reloading, I have have a few rifles I want to load for but am going to start with my sons Swift.
It is a Ruger M77, liberty, 1/14 twist, heavy barrel.
It was handed down to him and came with boxes and boxes of reloads, the boxes are clearly marked, but I think when the original owner passed, the bullets from all over were randomly put in to the boxes.
I have a lot of brass, empty with unknown amout of shots, and a half dozen boxes of reloads. The boxes have lots of different load data comments, all old and again, I do not know what is what.
So..
Can anyone recomend a load for this gun that would be a good start? Do not want to max out, but as close as possible to get maximum performance for coyote.
I understand there will be no perfect load that can be handed to me, but there has to be something out there after all these years of the gun being around.
This will be my first run at reloading, so be easy on me.
I would like like a powder that is not only available but hopefully one that can be used with my 17 Remington and .204 down the road. I am learning that may not be possible though.
I am looking very forward to this hobby, and it's results. I should have started hand loading long ago.
Thank you.

My best results were with Vihtavuori N140 38g with Lapua 55g sp bullets.

I have tried IMR 3031, H335, and Varget, all with good results with 52g-60g projectiles.
