got the new ns522 coming, now to look around for a scope, if anyone has already researched them, I'd appreciate the input thanks

$100 is on the edge of the "nothing but crap" category IMHO, but there are a few decent options.

Bushnell Banner Shotgun/Muzzleloader Fixed 4x

- I have this scope and it has held up to a couple years of bouncing around strapped to my quad while grouse hunting. Holds zero well even after all that, and still puts 10 rounds into a single hole at 25m on my CZ 513.

Simmons 22 Mag Fixed 4x or 3-9

- I don't own this scope but have thought about it many times. I have read tons of positive reviews on this scope, and apparently they hold up really well. In your price range this would be a good option. I chose the Bushnell mentioned above instead based on previous experience but almost gave in to the good reviews.

Personally these are the only 2 scopes under $100 that I would even consider, and I would be tempted to stick to a fixed power scope just for the reliability and lack of parts to break.

A fixed 4x is all you need for plinking at 50m and less.

For that budget a Tasco 2.5-10 Target/varmint would fill the bill. I have one that I install on new purchases before getting a permanent one mounted. Fairly decent glass with AO.

go to Cabela's and get one of their house brand, i think its called Pine Ridge.
they are by far the best cheaply priced optics i have seen in years.

for 100-200 you can get a fantastic piece of glass for your plinker.
i believe their rimfire one is just over 60 and you can get a tactical long range rimfire one for like 110??

would be the way i would go.

i put one on my gopher gun and love it so much i put one on my MKII for doing distance shooting.
i have no complaints at all about them.

on this blue 10/22 thats the rimfire one that runs like $60-$80 (h ttp://www.cabelas.ca/product/24381/cabelas-pine-ridge-rimfire-riflescopes)

and on the MKII is the tactical one $110-$160 (h ttp://www.cabelas.ca/product/24379/cabelas-pine-ridge-17-tactical-riflescopes)

Bushnell Banner 3.5-10x36....had a few of them and they are pretty decent for $100. Check higginson powders out.

For under $100 and within 50yrds plain old iron sigts will get the job done. If you insists on a scope I'd go with a 4x fixed power. Usually lighter and more robust vs a variable.
For ~$40 you can pick up a Simmons .22 magnum with rings included. Great value and leaves you enough $$ for a couple bricks of ammo.

My NS 522 is very accurate, it is now topping with a Leupold fixed 35x.

Look for an older Made in Japan 10x (or higher) fixed power scope with AO, I just sold one under $100 shipped. They are great match for 22lr.

I have a bushnell tactical 10x fixed power coming for mine

Not really ideal for a rimfire.....unless all your shooting is over 100m there will be some fairly obvious paralax issues.

And for everyone saying "shoot it first" they don't have any sights.....kind of hard to do that.
