Good for Booth on standing up for his right to hunt... however, in this day an age we ALL need to use discretion in practicing and promoting the sport we love... the days of driving around town with a truck strapped down with dead deer or bears are gone. The key is youth initiatives... and grass roots methods are best, and by that I mean ALL of us taking our kids and their friends into the outdoors, fishing and hunting and camping... get them connected with nature and the natural order of life... including understanding the "food-chain" and and respect for animals and nature... and ethical and fair chase game harvesting practices.

At our job we get Summer Students each year. This year we've got a kid from Edmonton; big strong intelligent kid. The other day we're driving home from work and (somehow, well actually I'm always talking about deer & hunting) I brought up the deer rut. And this kid says, "what's the rut?"
So I have to explain about that, which leads me to talking about calling bull moose and how intense that is, elk bugling etc... well this kid has no idea about any of this.
All he knows is video games, pavement, malls, i-Phones and crap like that. There is something like 80% of people that live in cities now, that entire generation of guys growing up right now, are the same as this kid.
It's important to present hunting in a positive way.
Another great post. I work with a guy that's originally from Whitby and had no idea about anything other than stores, tall buildings and asphalt. But the good news is that he's learning, and more importantly, going for his PAL and Hunter Ed course next month.
