Hey I'm wondering if something exists. I have a Beretta CX4 and have a really nice red dot on it. But because I don't use it much, whenever I go to pull it out the battery is dead.

Is there an optic that's the size of a red dot but glass like a scope? Not looking for magnification. Just wide eyes relief with cross hairs.

I only ask because the iron peeps are very hard for me to see threw.

Getting old sucks lol

Leupold prismatic (hard to find) Primary Arms cyclops, Burris AR1X, vortex spitfire 1x, bushnell Tac Optics Lil P 1x

Or aimpoint will last around 5 years on a battery...

ACOG? Accupoint? There are a few options with pretty impressive battery life or motion based auto shut down that work pretty well too which could solve your battery issues. That or a tritium front sight post (if available-Not sure what type of sights on there)

Vortex Spitfire 1x is an option too, it has an etched reticle that is visible without batteries, but as it's a prism it's not quite the same as looking through a reflex sight.

As mentioned above, Trijicon RMR or even the Mepro M21 is another option, solar and Tritium powered.

Holosun makes a range of solar powered red dots that are very good.

I'm a big fan of Seeall sights too.

Google them all and see if one works for you, I've had all of the above and they all have their pros and cons.

Thanks but maybe I wasn't clear. I want something WITHOUT a battery.

Spitfire 1x prismatic, have one on my VZ.
Reticle is etched, battery is only for illumination of the reticle, which I do not use. Also fixes problems from astigmatism, if you have.
Cheers

Try a prism scope on first before you buy though, some of them have fairly short eye relief and may not jive well with the rear sight on the CX4.

What is your budget?

I use a variety of sights all with the same rationale as you.....

PK-AS $600
Specter Arms Ascension $180
See More $200
Rakurs $550

You could always just take the battery out when you put it in the safe? Cheapest option out there!

This is what I do with my old vortex, takes cr123 batteries, takes seconds to remove and keep it with a couple spares in my range bag.

I also have a holosun which has the 'shake awake' feature which makes the batteries last forever
