Hi all, looking for a red dot scope for my 10/22 takedown. Would like to keep the price at about 2/3 the price of the gun. (gun was about $370). What's worked well for you? Thanks in advance!

The only guns I have a red dot on are my turkey scattergun and a pellet pistol... if you are interested in accuracy you need better than a 3 MOA dot... if it is just a fun plinker, the Bushnell Trophy is a decent unit.

We have the Tasco ProPoint's on our 3 1/2" Rem 870's and they have stood up to the recoil of 150 or so turkey loads... so I would say they can handle your 10/22.

The trs-25 is a great red dot for the price. They can be found for <$130.

TRS 25 is the best for the money.

+1 to both, I have one on my mini SOCOM 10/22 and it has been working fine so far. I bought mine from P&D in Edmonton for $111 (I think it was) a month or so ago.

Would you recommend using a riser or directly onto the rail?

Directly onto the rail, mine is mounted that way and the cheek weld is marginal as it is. A riser would make it into a chin weld situation.

Tasco from canadian tire, $40 i think. Ive had one on my ruger for 2 years and ive taken approximately 3000 shots woth it on. Still bang on and works great. I bought another at a gun show, now i just have to find something to mount it on.
