Red dot for a rimfire

Burris makes relatively inexpensive, decent quality red/green dot sights. If you're looking to spend a couple hundred bucks you can probably find a Burris AR-132 for that.

You can get the most recent Vortex Crossfire too for about $200 lifetime warranty. I have a couple that get rotated around guns. I like em they work good.

You can take it off of the high mount it comes on and get it low.

I have two or three el cheapo TASCO red dots. I keep one on my "tractor gun", a 10/22 takedown. I use a cheap battery so if I forget to turn it off, just put another one in. I think the better sights have auto shut off.

TRS25, with a small 4mm dovetail to weaver adapter, that clips inside.

I use this exact same combo on my 795. Works very well and the adjustable brightness of the dot is fantastic. Have had it for 2 years and have yet to change the battery. Solid combo.

I'm a big fan of the reflex type red dot sights like vortex venom/Nikon spur over the tube type. (highly recommend the nikon, I have it on a 12g shotgun right now and its held up just fine)
If you're after the tube ones, the trs will meet your needs but i'd also look at the vortex Sparc AR, Nikon makes one too in the 200ish range but its never available when im looking.
Best thing about all the red dots mentioned is they aren't limited to a rim-fire, having an option to put it on something else helps justify the cost.
I'd avoid one with a massive 6 or 8 moa dot for a rifle, Usually try to find 2 or 3. that may just be personal preference though.

What would be the best way to mount a red dot on a Savage Mark II or a Savage Model 93 rimfire rifle? I wouldn't mind trying out a red dot for fun since I just do casual shooting with these guns at the present time.

The TRS-25 is good enough for a .22, in my expereince. Just take care that you don't strip the screw head or the aluminum threads. If you need a replacement, use an M3.5-0.6 machine screw.

Holosuns are good if you're willing to spend more.

There are a few different Weaver or Picatinny bases or rails on the market that clamp onto a 3/8" dovetail.
