Red dot for a scatter gun.

Said another way, I don't believe red dots can be used to lead a target that's moving, and that's a big problem for a fowler.

Beg to differ…

To try the concept out I initially set my gun up with a Trijicon SRO (which was used in my video above), but since then have changed it out to an Aimpoint ACRO C2. The ACRO has a slightly more disruptive housing, however it sits lower which turns out mattered most for me.

Cheers,

I bought a shotgun to shoot shot, oddly enough. The ACRO P-2 I mounted on one of my 1301T makes a profound difference to say the least. I do shoot a lot of slugs as well but it should be obvious it's a game changer there too. I zeroed it at 25m, pretty much arbitrarily. Everything I stock (000, 00, #1 and #4 buck) patterns POA at the distances I expect to ever use it at. For slugs at longer range, just hold higher (duh).

Excellent video Brobee, and what a wonderful dog you've got there. She doesn't jump up at the flushed bird, and her master knows to wait for the bird to clear before bearing down on it. You're both skilled hunters, it shows.
While I'm still not convinced a red dot is an improvement, I'll readily admit that you've given me some curiosity to try one, and agreed, lower is better.

Great video Brobee, that’s the beauty of a red dot and shot. You can set the dot above, below or dead centre on the shot pattern. I’ve used one for awhile with grouse, the dot is near the bottom of the pattern out to 25-30m and generally it’s dead on with slugs out to 50-60m in my particular gun with my choice of slugs.

Great dog you have there, you can tell she’s a smart one.

Sooo, no one has put a 'cheap amazon' reflex on a SG ? Hoping someone would say it's OK - I don't have $50 to gamble.

Good vid Brobee thanks for the effort
Is Woodland Targets still alive? they look good for a prs run

Eotechs are kind of ridiculous expensive but the dot for slugs and the circle is cool for when using shot.

I have a Holosun HS510C on my open div. Versa Max. 2MOA dot in the middle for slugs, 65MOA ring around it for shot. Like a couple other guys here have said, that reticle setup works great.

Holosun is not really a good deal anymore imo. You can get an RMR on sale for $20 more than a 507.

Lol you're comparing sale price to regular price. An RMR is still $300+ more expensive than a comparable Holosun. Not worth it IMO.

Very sadly, she had advanced degenerative arthritis that accelerated very quickly this summer; just this past fall she passed into the happy hunting grounds and now there is a huge hole in our family. She will be remembered as a constant loving companion, as well as a cherished hunting partner.

Regrettably when we required materials and laser cutting to replace our sold-out first commercial run, extreme inflationary pressure ate our lunch so we shut things down. I have a few leftovers I’d consider selling, if you’re interested shoot me your cell number in a pm I’ll txt you some pics.

Cheers, and thanks for your kind comments!

Sorry to hear that, we lost our oldest dog this spring so I know all too well the empty spot you talk about. We have two other dogs we love just as much but our oldest was the most outgoing of the three and a total character.

So if you could buy a 507c at $570-600 or found a RMR on sale at $620 you would buy the Holosun? Sure, when you're in the market the RMR might not be on sale, but it is Black Friday time so you can find good deals on them.

These look very interesting but the high mounting turns me off for use on a shotgun.

I can't stand being being buried in the shotgun only seeing the back of the receiver, the lowest mount is just tall enough to allow for a better view of what's in front of you without being overly high.

I know it's not for everyone, & that's cool.

It's not for everyone

The 507C that you mentioned is no more than $450, available, in stock- https://srstactical.ca/holosun-hs507c-x2-micro-multi-reticle-sight-red-dot.html

RMRs in stock are ~$850. here, here, or on sale for $750. I don't know what you're going on about, but the RMR is just nowhere close in price to comparable Holosuns. And you could also find deals on Holosuns for black friday. Did you buy an RMR and are trying to justify the price or something?
