2 weeks ago I asked about Weaver 3-9 scope for this gun but Reality check says that I don't need so much optical power since I live in the city, never hunt, and only shoot guns at closed indoor 25yd range. Red dot is much more appropriate for this type of shooting.
I would like to buy vortex strikefire but it would cost over $200, do you have some cheaper recomendation, up to $150, what kind of mount goes on this rifle?

Thank you CGN-ers.

I use a bushnell TRS-25 on my sr-22 and its great! Nothing but good reviews on it too! Find one on amazon. They usually go for $100-130 + shipping.

Here's a pic of it mounted with a UTG medium profile riser:

Bought mine on amazon.ca. You can import as long as its under $100. I've seen some listed for $75-100 in the states but not many people will ship to canada

I was going to go with the Vortex SPARC myself, the lowest I could find it was for $220. At the time, I was also looking at the Bushnell TRS-25. Everywhere I looked (in Canada), it retailed for min $150 (when it was $90 in the USA). Seeing the price discrepancy on the bushy between Canada and the US, I was going to go with the Vortex. Just before I was going to go buy the SPARC, prices skyrocketed to at least $250 for it everywhere. The price on the bushy fell down to $109 at the same time the price on the Vortex went up. So my decision was an easy one and I sprung for the bushy. This was at Le baron (Mississauga), it might be worth a trip to Mississauga from Kitchener for (I would call first to see if they have it, Le Baron not usually very well stocked).

For half the cost of the Vortex, the TRS-25 is a rock solid purchase and a better value IMO. They both have the 2 MOA dot (SPARC and bushy, not strikefire), which is very decent compared to other value priced red dot sights (the smaller dot covers the target less, giving better shot placement). Those 795s are accurate little rifles, so the 795 should be happier with the 2 MOA dot.

On a side note, when I first bought the TRS-25, I thought the front lens was set into the housing crookedly. Upon further investigation, this is normal. It is done this way on purpose to angle the glare away.

Good luck!

I ordered trs-25 from Le Baron today, Mississuaga store said they don't have it in stock but should get it next weekj and sale person at 1-800 number said she doesn't know what is in stock. I expect to get it in about 2 weeks.

Chaslavk, just a heads up for you: the 795 has standard rimfire dovetails on the receiver for scope mounting. The TRS25 and the Sparc both come with integral mounts that fit Picatinny (and probably Weaver) rails. Unless they come with adapters (I don't think they do) you will need to get some kind of adapter/riser to use these sights...and that will introduce a potential problem of raising the line of sight too high to get a good cheek weld. You might want to look around for something better suited for use on a 3/8-inch rimfire dovetail. I'm pretty sure that I've seen inexpensive red dot sights designed for this type of mounting.

I wouldn't hold your breath on this. I ordered my bushnell from a couple diff stores that said they had it in stock or were getting more soon. 4 weeks later they said 3-6 months. Must of been some kind of bushnell shortage.

This gentleman is correct, you might have a problem and could possibly need a cheek riser (which would look weird with a red dot IMO) if you were to go this route. Le Baron has a Tasco red dot on special for around $30 (the same one at Canadian Tire for $50 I believe). It comes in 2 versions, integral picatinny/weaver type mount, and an integral dovetail mount for rimfire that wouldn't require you to buy an adapter and, or cheek riser. The dot size is larger, 5 MOA I think. But it costs a lot less.
