I have a Remington 870 in the Knoxx collapsable stock and getting a properly sight line on the bead quickly just doesn't happen for me with this gun so I am thinking a red dot is the way to go with this one. I will have to get a saddle mount rail since the receiver is not tapped for mounts. What is a good red dot for shotguns that will hold up to the recoil and has a dot that has good visibility in sunlight? Not looking to spend a bunch of money since this is not a primary hunting gun but more for fun and wildeness defense when working trails/scouting etc.

These are the best bets and more or less order of price

Dump the stock and run a hi viz or tritium bead. Cheaper and far more robust.

The stock is half the reason I bought this gun, the short barrel is the second. If I wanted a full fixed stock I would have just bought another field barrel for the 500 and cut it down to 18.5 inches.
