Your friend is just one more person who doesn't get the difference between shotgun and rifle shooting. If it worked so well, why do you not see a single shooter using a red dot sight in clays competition?

I have a 12.5" Grizzly coming in. Already have the AR15870 MkIII stock adapter/picatinny rail and an EOTech to dress it up. Gonna try it out at the range, see how it works. Gonna try it with some clays for shoots and giggles. If it works fine for that, then we'll see how it works for some grouse.

I tried out my bushnell banner 1x4 scope out for geese after I sighted it in for slugs....It worked okay, but I felt foolish and removed it...

I had a reddot on my Mossberg 500 for turkey, & tried it out for geese. I was pleasantly surprised with the results. I am not a great wingshooter, but the reddot made a big difference in my shooting. It may not look the best, & might annoy the purists, but anything that helps me make a clean kill is good in my books. I like to shoot with both eyes open, & the reddot really works in this mode.

I was reading an old Guns & Ammo mag a couple of years ago and they had a big article on this. Apparently when they came out they were called something like "laser/prism/reflection/reaction" sights. When trap shooters started using them they began to get better scores. It got to the point where there was a definite advantage. The official trap shooting people didn't like it, they banned them from competition. Or something to the effect of that.

I actually received a shotgun in a trade with a mount for one. First one I have seen. I wouldn't mind trying it. I would be interesting but I don't think it would benefit my shooting.
