i just purchased a baikail 161k 22LR for cheap target shooting to help counter the cost of shooting my SKS SVT and enfiles, and im looking to put a red dot sight on it. i'm trying to find a balance between cost and effectiveness, as of now im currently looking at NC-Start sights or possibly a BSA sight if any one has any advise as to what a good sight would be please let me know. im looking at spending about 40-60 before tax \ shipping. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do not buy that crap!

For $50 you can go to walmart or canadian tire and get a tasco which will hold up much better, and if you have any issues a little fight with canadian tire and they replace it regardless of what is wrong.

I had one mounted on a 9mm AR, a CZ 858, and even a Mossberg 12 guage, and it lasted a couple years and plenty of use.

It is a little large, and a bit heavy compared to similar optics of the same type but for the money they are pretty decent.

You will regret buying that ncstar crap, as many others here already have.

What's your budget?
I wouldn't buy NCstar but if you are broke you can talk with Marstar as I believe they have a lifetime warranty through them and will replace any crap with....hopefully less crap!

If you can scrape up close to $200 then you could get something from Vortex or try and get an ultra dot from rimfiresports out of the states.

picked up a tasco red dot from cdn tire for $55 with tax. not the world's best but seems like it will definatly do what i need it to do. the dot is useless on any setting lower then 5 in daylight and on the higher settings the dot seems a bit blurry but it hink thats because my eye seems to focus on the dot rather then the target. that being said when i focus on the target the dot seems fine... i havnt received the baikal yet so cant fully review, but once i receive the rifle in the mail get teh sight mounted and go shooting i will post more.. will also do a small review of my thoughts about hte rifle as when searching for info about the rifle i found VERY little information.

Sorry, you can't balance cost and effectiveness for those sorts of prices. $40-$60 is basically the bottom of the barrel for red dots. If you're talking $169 before tax, you can get a Vortex Strikefire... which is a great balance between cost and effectiveness.

I would NEVER buy NC Star ANYTHING that takes batteries again. Their electronics are total sh!t. 50 dollars for a red dot is only a good deal if it holds zero and doesn't break. Otherwise just set your 50 bucks on fire and be done with it.
