Does anyone have experience with using a red dot for hunting? Watching the aim point videos on YouTube has made me interested. I have a ruger gsr that I'd like to put one on. The model I am interested in is the hunter 34s. How does it compare to the T1? Anyone have experience hunting with either?

I posted here instead of in optics because I am interested in how or why the hunter model is better compared to the micro T1 in terms of hunting. Thought there'd be more relevant hunting experience in here.

Thank you

I use red dots on my hunting rifles and quite like them.
Shoot with both eyes open.

The more money you put into them the better the quality.

I run an Aimpoint Compm4.

I chose that over the T1 because the window is way bigger for a bigger view.

Perfect for running game, and THE best sight for hunting out a jet-boat I've tried.

Very simple and effective.

The only thing I don't like is having to dial it up so many stages/step for brightness. I have to crank it all the way on then back it off 1 or 2 before shooting. Sometimes I can just leave it on, but not always. I'd like to be able to set the brightness and then just be able to hit an on button.

Aimpoint Micro H1 for both wild turkey hunting and deer hunting in the "big woods". As previously said, incredibly fast on target. Also, very capable of ethical shots on big game out to 200 meters. I am looking to add a Hunter H30/H34 for the deer hunting for the larger field of view.

I would echo that (like everything) you get what pay for. I don't regret the $$$ outlay for the Aimpoint at all.
