Hello everyone,

I'm trying to mount a red dot on my Marlin .357 Mag, which already has a Pic rail. I can't decide between a 22mm or 30mm QD mount. Does anyone know which one makes more sense?

Cheers

I think that would depend on the size of the red dot and the height over bore. Are you trying to co-witness with iron sights and using a pistol mounted lower red dot or a larger red dot where co-witness is not possible on the rifles you are using?

On the Marlin 1894, I found the drop in the comb just right for using the iron sites, and too low to get a proper cheek weld with even a fairly low mounted red dot; I had to add a cheek riser. A mount intended for an AR style modern sporting rifle will tend to sit too high and will be tough to get a proper cheek weld.

I would try the lowest mount you can get and try it out, see you it feels, but it may still too high for your comfort.
