red dot mounted on elcan specter?

Try to clear a sea can village and walk up and down stairways, and you will find the ingenuity of mounting a red dot high over the primary optic. It allows you to keep you head up and retain more situation awareness. In addition, you can use the reddot if you are wearing head gear, like CBRN mask. It is a different tool from the 1X setting of the Spectre DR.

clearing a sea can village? hummm i'd like to know more, sounds hairy.

I agree, but found I needed to hover over the stock with the ACOG version which ment I was chasing the reticle.

The FIST OS4 reticle is not available as a commercial offering which is a good thing (IMO as it is super fine, lacks both the range finding and 300m crosshatch on the BDC as 9" is close enough according to the MOD ) as both the commercial offerings are better reticles, with the cross hair my choice as I have found under stress people aim with the center of the chevron instead of the tip.

I like a scope but in addition, a reflex dot on a 45 seems quicker for me out in the open and closer in, especially with long and short corners/ windows.
Sea can village, lol, reminds me of looong hallways and doors on both sides like training inside schools.

"It is a different tool from the 1x setting of the Spectre DR..."

Now THAT is EXACTLY what I was referring to, using a holographic red dot on top of the Spectre DR provides the "non-parallax unlimited eye relief round goes where the red dot is no matter where you look in the scope" function whereas the red dot on the SpecreDR in 1x alone will NOT give you the same "non-parallax unlimited eye relief round goes where the red dot is no matter where you look in the scope" function.

Am I wrong here?

Soooooooo...

Not wanting to make assumptions here but does the lack of further input/feedback suggest that I'm not wrong in the above statement/observation?

I just wanted to make sure the right assessments were being made to be fair to the quality gear in question and to the OP's original question.

IMHO utilizing a Docter MRD (or the like) on my SpectreDR is a solid decision since either are differentiated greatly by what they do. And to further greentips input, they are wholly different tools which broaden the operators options.

So back to your question OP, I now have the MRD mount for my SpectreDR and will be affixing a holographic mini red dot when called for, likely a Docter.

The only downside is the extra cost of the DR which will now live at 4X.

Agreed. Which is why this particular combination is not for everyone, let alone the SpectreDR by itself.

However, when it comes to gearing up with quality kit of which you reply on, there is no compromise.

I was just pouring myself a rum and the idea of the extra ounces of the DR came to mind................but I am running out of negatives.

I also ran a 568, 575 and a 576/600 in my last three matches using my OS4. So I kind of like the optics, but there is always a compromise.

Holy smokes we are going way back on the thread resurrection train!

Did someone say sea-can village?! These boys like this setup.
