Red dot on a pistol?

So heres the background. Wife got interested in shooting a few years ago. She now has a nice collection of guns and just got her restricted late last year. So to celebrate we went to all the gunshops in Edmonton on a christmas trip. She held just about everything and it came down to the S&W M&P v-Tac or the SIG P226 with e2 grips. She bought the Sig and loves the pistol but she has always struggled with open sights (rifles, .22, and pistols) give her a scope or red dot and she is probably a better shot than me.

So I came across a Cadex mount for a reflex sight for the 226 that you don't have to alter the gun for. She wants to add it to the cart right now but I have no idea how these sights perform on pistols. or if it's a good idea.

So if anybody can help it would be much appreciated.

1- Are these a reliable sight when mounted to the slide of a pistol?
2- what do I have to spend on a sight to get a decent one?
3- Overall thoughts of the idea

Heres the product.

Please just don't say teach her to get better with open sights unless this is a terrible idea, She has struggled picking up open sights on all platforms and types from the beginning Her sight is not the best and I would rather she has fun at the range than get frustrated trying.

Thanks

Jason

i have one on one of mine, i really like it.
and the one your looking at is cheap in price, mine was 4 times that!

its said that the G force from the slide hammering back and forth kill the red dots fairly fast.
i have yet to kill mine and have yet to see one die, but then i dont roll 5k down the pipe on that gun a summer like some people do.

i would say for the price of that one you listed pick it up and try it out, if she does good with it and likes it better then the open sites THEN you know and then you can invest some good money in a site that has a lifetime warranty like a couple of the better ones do.

and she should have gone with the M&P, hehe
(im a fanboy of M&P)

its a good mount, but the red dot will cost you quite a bit more
if you just want to try a red dot without spending big $$ can get one of the pistol frame rail mounts available

Generally speaking cadex makes a great product, id buy in confidence you can allways ask darren what he thinks of them he dosnt carry crap.

Just make sure you don't mount that sucker too high, it needs to be as low as physically possible or you'll be hunting that dot constantly.

thats the truth!

my M&P is low and its perfect, my 22/45 is high and im constantly swinging the front of the barrel back and forth like drunked sailor trying to find that damn dot!
im gonna pull that cheap red dot off it and get a low sitting one, fastfire or TR25 or something like that.

We just dropped the price on the Cadex Sig RDS mount. ;)

I use one on my Sig 226. I love it.

They do fit the Docter Optics we have in stock as well as similar ones like the Burris.

Wow finally not impulse buying and waiting paid off. Order in. Any idea when the battlecomp's will be back in stock?
