red dot on Lee Enfield 303 model 1896

I was looking at possible options to put scope on my 303 Lee Enfield. It looks like without some serious gunsmithing it is not possible. So, naturally I tried red dot and it seems to fit nicely. How will it work though? will that cheap red dot scope withstand recoils? Anybody else tried it?
