Red dot on shotgun??

Hi I have a cheap ebay red dot sight
I want to mount it on my 12 gage for slugs.
Just not sure what the recoil is going to do to the thing?
Guess my question is do I have a chance of it working or am I just going to damage it?
The sight is “wather top point”

Cheap stuff dosent last... Blew apart a fake eotech on my shotgun....

Spend a couple bucks and get a fiber optic bead sight or a True Glow... You get a nice glowing dot out of it....

I think you'll damage it pretty quickly.
Thy make shotgun red-dots and they're pricey because they have a lot of recoil to survive through.

I'm with DILLIGAF, get yourself a fibre optic front sight for $20 and save the cheap red dot for a .22.
Hi-Viz makes magnetic fibre optic sights that sit just behind the bead, so you may not even have to modify your bead, if you have one.

If you want better accuracy, you'll have to spend some cash on a set of iron sights, or a shotgun red-dot.

Ok I’ll keep it for 22 or something.
How do you find the fiber optic with slugs?
And that do you think of this?

get a tasco red dot, heard that it was able to mount on a shotgun, but definitely on an AR platform

I used cheap Tascos and a Bushnell Trophy T32 and they all held admirably for a slug gun.
But in the end I chose to solder rifle sights on the barrel for ease of operation.
Same price give or take.

I had a cheap Chinese made Tasco on my Mossberg 500 for a few years. Shot literally hundreds of 2 3/4 & 3" shells through it. Slugs, heavy game loads, turkey magnum shells, & waterfowl loads. Never had a problem with it. Guess I got lucky .

I had a Bushnell TRS25 on a 12.5 inch 870 - no issues, others have too. Check P&D for the best price - in fact close to the price of knock offs ($120 if I remember right)

I put a BSA holo sight on a mossberg 12 ga a few years back. The lens flew out and broke on the ground after 5 or 6 slugs. BassPro replaced it for me no questions asked, the new one broke on the second shot.

I've killed 2 bushnells and a few others. Took the walther marked red dot from my nighthawk pellet pistol it worked great. I went to a red fiber optic front post as I found the red dot to big. Get a fine fiber optic for better slug shooting. I'd go green if I did it again. I'm not sure whether its actually better but my eyes pick up the green in low light better then the red. In day light the red is really brite
