Red dot on SKS with Tapco stock

Just wondering who has put a red dot on their SKS with the Tapco stock. Is that front rail too far away? If it works, what range do you use it up to? 100m?
 
I installed my Tapco yesterday. I have a Bushnell Cheapo Red Dot and slapped it on the gas tube rail just to see if it would work. Well, it seems like it would work well, except for the slight wiggle in the shroud/stock fit. To alleviate this problem, I kind of bedded the shroud to the stock, if you can picture it.
I've been busy all day and haven't had a chance to see how it set up, but I'm optimistic.
I mean, it's a red dot, I don't have delusions of accuracy, no matter what the mount is.
I figure I'll sight it in to 50 or 100 yards.

installed a red dot sight on the action cover yesterday.

works great, cuts the groups about in half.

this set up is at least 100% more fun...
