hi gents...
thinking about installing a red-dot device on my M14s Norinco...
could you plase advise what kind, brand, bla bla bla... to put on this kind of rifle....any personal experience....
thanks for looking
regards

Aimpoint ML2/ML3 is a highly regarded red-dot. Even the clones that 1337Tactical (jackyiscxd on here) sells are pretty good.

I personally like the EOTech/Holosight, but it's not a TRUE red dot.

What the heck is a true red dot? The Eotech and aimpoint are in the same class in terms of combat optics.....both are no parellax, no magnification....one has a reticle pattern, one has a dot. Both are good choices......

+ for jackyiscxd.

I've used his aimpoints, lasers & acog's. That #### can take a hell of a beating.

If you can hit a local gun club and trial both, you'll find that aimpoint and eotech both make fine sights.

My preference is for aimpoint, while my brother is into the eotechs. Go figure.

At least it'll allow you to saddle up with a choice YOU are comfortable with.

IMHO, the EoTech is good for strictly CQB/close up stuff due to the reticle thickness/fuzziness.

The Aimpoint is a better optic for longer range stuff, say 100m to 300m.The Aimpoints have different dot sizes available as well.

SKBY.

Agreed. The CompM2 has a 4 moa dot. This breaks out to the dot subtending or "covering":
4 inches at 100 yards
12 inches at 300 yards
20 inches at 500 yards (almost 2 feet wide  )

It is brilliant out to about 300 yards against a man sized target with rapid, accurate fire.

At 500, the damned dot is so BIG that it covers the entire target, giving little aiming point of reference.

Wondering if anyone here has tried the 3x now available from aimpoint?

The new 53-0021 holosight from bushnell looks pretty good.
Around $250 US.
Slim design runs on three aaa batteries for 100 hours and has an auto shutoff feature.
65 MOA ring with a 1 MOA dot
Mounts without rings to a Weaver rail

I've got a Millet red dot that I bought used that is supposed to be 1 MOA but it seems a little bigger then that.... but still better then my cheaper bushnell trophy with 4MOA.
