Anyone have any experience with these red dots, found a couple locally while red dot shopping for an sks. Trs25 was what I was looking for but thought I'd ask about these, searched CGN but nothing came up.

-Bushnell 1x40 red dot, 5moa dot. Looks similar to the trs25

-Firefield 1x30 red/green dot combat sight.

-Barska 4x28 electro sight, has some magnification but looks like it's long enough to get in the way of stripper clip loading.

I can't seem to find any info regarding the bushnell 1x40rd, at least in regards to reviews. I can get one locally really cheap, but if it's garbage I'll just go back to my first choice of the trs25. It's going on an sks so no point in spending more than the trs25 will cost brand new imho.

Specs on the 1x40rd say weaver mounting so I'm not sure if it will fit the bcTactical scout mount, which is a Picatinny rail. Guess I'll have to see if it will actually mount the scout mount.

Well Barska is complete crap. Buying a Barska is like burning money except you have a piece of crap to keep after. You feel bad about wasting money on so you try to tell yourself its okay. Its probably better not to have sights than a Barska.
I don't know anything about the Firefield though. Never heard of them. A quick google search only found one review. It almost looks like knock offs of Bushnell. If I had to guess its probably someone buying knock offs from Asia and selling them under a new cool sounding name. That is not to say they might not be good. Just a total gamble and possibly even a bit of a scam.

The Bushnell is good though. I have owned two of them. The second one had a butter soft mounting screw (which is weird because they should be the same) that stripped pretty easily. Overall I would say that they are a good value and would be fine for plinking. No where near the quality of some more expensive optics though.

Also the weaver mounting will work on a picatinny rail. They are pretty much the same except weaver has less slots.

You mean you've owned the bushnell 1x40rd or the trs25? I know lots of people on CGN love their trs25's but searching the 1x40rd brings up zilch. I can't even find anything on bushnell's website about it. For $20-30 I think I'll take a chance but if it's crap I'd rather spend the money on the trs25.

Good to know the Barska is trash, it looks too long anyway. I'm sure it won't allow the use of stripper clips which is a deal breaker for me. I love my stripper clips.

Barska is low end and will not last long.

The TRS-25 has received good reports here, so that should tell you something, especially since it's one of the first recommendations for relatively low cost dot.

You'll pay a little more, but I would recommend the Burris products as well, especially the FastFire series.

I have a couple Bushnell TRS-25's and they are hard to beat for the money. The Holosun ones look very interesting though for a bit more money.

I think I'll just stick to my initial choice and buy a trs25, the bushnell 1x40 is somewhat suspicious to me, seeing as there next to no info online let alone on bushnell's website.

I suggest to get a quality red dot sight as it will last longer (many many years), are more accurate and way more rugged. Of course if you intend to use it on a $200 rifle, don't bother but if it's a quality rilfe go with either of those which can be quite affordable when bought used.

in order pf preference for myself....

Aimpoint
Eotech
Vortex
Trijicon

Good luck

@S1nnerman I'd love to put a quality optic on it but it's just an sks, I don't want to put a red dot on a $200 rifled that cost twise as much. Reading the trs25 feedback on CGN makes me think it will be the best value for what I want to do with it.
