Hey all, curious if anyone is aware of any red dot or holographic sight with the following features:

a) has at least some degree of magnification, even if it is 1.5x or 2x only
b) is cheaper than an Aimpoint or EOTech

Ideally cost would be as low as possible. This is not for the highest quality firearm and so I'm not looking for an extremely crazy good optic for it. I know Bushnell sells a Trophy red dot for about $200 bucks but it has no magnification. I haven't checked out Burris, but I know they are more affordable. Any ideas?

Vortex has an Aimpoint Clone (Strikefire) that comes with a 2x screw-on magnifier. Vortex has been getting some pretty good reviews from what I have heard.

ETA

Look up "Vortex Optics Canada" and you should be able to find their site. Looks like an MSRP of about 209 bucks. They are higher quality than your average clone. Also uses normal 30mm rings, so you can use whatever you want.

Great for CQB & bamm back to longe range. It comes in 2x, 3x & 4x mag and the best part of all. It dosn't increase your reticale when in use. Meaning if you have a 4moa red dot & you are using the magnifier then it's still a 4moa red dot except everything is 4x closer.
Deffenatly a great piece of gear.

millet makes a great little 1-4 with illuminated reticle (as the previous posted commented) and bushnells 4200 series 1-4 with illuminated reticle is super, but its starting to get up there in price. If you want red dot with magnification really look at the 1-4's they will surprise you.

The Vortex Canada site says "available soon". Any CGN dealers carry em?

Looks like Vortex has a 3x magnifier coming out also for the reddot.

VMX3 Magnifier
With 3x magnification and a durable armored construction, the Vortex VMX3 magnifier can be used to quickly add precise, longer ranging ability to red dot type sights—including the Vortex SPARC and StrikeFire red dots. The VMX3 is easy to use and does not require any special sight-in. Just zero-in the red dot scope as normal, then add the VMX3 behind the scope for the additional magnification.
