Hello,

Does anyone have have any experience with the Red Dot available from Marstar?

Look at the very bottom for $48.00 (NcS-DDAB)
Thinking of putting one on my Grizzly to see if I like them.

Its for just playing at the range. I want to do some experiments with straight stocks vs. knoxx / ghost ring vs. bead vs. dot sight to see what combination gives me the best split times between shots (shortest recovery).

This way if I don't I haven't invested a lot of money. Can always put it on the .22.

I have used a similar one on a .22 mag. and a 30-30 carbine. They work okay but the dot covers about 6" at 100 yards. Not real precise equipment but for quick shots on a dark day they are great. Used it on my .22 mag for calling in coyotes in the winter. The dot was hard to see on a bright day. Never tried it on a shotgun but I think it would have its advantages for deer hunting. I know that with mine(maybe not all sights) you had to watch where you placed your head when sighting. The paralax was terrible. Could be because it was fairly cheap...ST...

Cheap optics and heavy recoil don't usually mix. A friend one of the 'hakko' clone types on his SKS, and it died.

You would be FAR better off saving up and buying a GOOD quality red dot. My experience with the Bushnell Holosight has been excellent, and I picked it up in the EE here for about $150. Even a new Burris FastFire (essentially, a Docter Optic) is only a little over $200.

If you buy the cheap one, and it sucks, you're out about $65. The resale value is very limited.

If you buy a holosight for $175-$200, and find you don't like it, you can resell it for pretty much what you paid. Net loss, like $20 (shipping).

If there is ONE thing I've learned in guns - buy cheap, buy twice (at least!).

I have the Burris Fast fire on my Ruger MK III and its been great and looks alot like its what that unit was based on.

My only complaint with the fast fire is the light sensing diode on the front that adjusts the brightness. I wish there was a nob to set the brightness because on bright days it can be hard to see...
