Red Dot Sight on Pistols - A Report

The bit about battery reliability under the G Forces of a pistol slide was interesting. Aside from that, there was nothing in the report that I hadn't already figured out for myself some time ago.....

The RMR in the center is patiently awaiting the arrival of my SIG P320 M21 FDE

At least it is good to know that I am on the right track....

And here I was thinking I had an addiction problem. Well done!

I made the move to changing a few of my handguns to RMR-sighted models after my eye surgery last year. I tried a G17 MOS but I found the slightly different grip angle compared to most of my other handguns, combined with the lack of supressor-height sights. made it too hard to find the dot. I switched that out for an M&P Pro CORE that I've added an Apex FSS trigger to. For me, the best advantage is past 25m—with the FNX I shot maybe my best 50m group ever, even after not shooting a 50m group for six years.

Opps you finally came out of the closet TDC. Now don't you feel more liberated?

You are way to easy. Not sure why it took so long.

Can you read Bob? I'm not TDC, but some have decided that I am so wasting my time denying it is well... A waste of time.

very nice photos/collections

I'm trying to figure out what handgun I want to put a RDS on...not my incoming G19, not my 226 legion, not my emperor scorpion...I think I need another handgun for this...maybe a M&P or a FNX (I've owned 2 M&Ps before but never shot a FNX)

Well you are a great fill in while we await the second coming. Unfortunately for you, you replied in his name to my post. Why? I suggested TDC used a Gen 2 Glock and you responded to this comment in the first person, like you were him. You post like TDC, you write like TDC and your comments reflect TDC sooooo you will do as TDC. Maybe TDC is not a person at all but just a definition.

I like my FNX Tactical a lot—if it wasn't for my eyesight issue I would not have picked it up but now that I have Im glad I did. I wrote a detailed post here last year on the pistol.

I went with the Walther PPQ Q5 Match. Build quality is as good as it gets with an excellent trigger. The slide is already cut for Optics. If not the Walther the M&P Pro CORE can be tuned into a shooter as well. I now the FN makes a VG pistol as well. I do think the slides that are cut for an Optic offer some advantages over the dovetail mount method. The Opric just sits that much lower and more in line with what you might be used to using irons.

You will let me try that Walther when you pass thru, right Bob?

Both the Optic mounted Match and the PPQ 5". They both have great ergos and sweet triggers. I may chase down a lighter trigger return spring for one of them to get the pull down to 3.5lbs. Changing the trigger return spring is a five minute exercise if you hold your tongue in the right position. I will PM you the dates later in the summer when I have them firmed up.

Thanks for the link, I really dig the looks of the FNX. (really nice to see the 9moa and 3.5moa dot comparison)

I hadn't planned on getting a 9 MOA dot but one came up for a good price on the EE and I don't find it too big at all. It only subtends a bit more than 2" at 25m.

I tried my friend Glock 17 with a Venom mounted on a EGW dove tail mount, I like it but found that the dot sit a little bit too high.
So I decided to have my Glock 19 slide cutout so I can installed the Venom directly on the slide, so far I love it.
