Sorry if this has been asked I haven't found anything on this. I've recently recieved my first red dot and I'm really having a hard time perfectly centering the dot in my sight picture. My question is how important is it to have a red dot sight perfectly centered like a regular scope? I've heard somewhere that it doesn't matter where the dot is inside the optic and that it is just a matter of puting the dot on target and its on but I'm having a hard time believing this. Thanks in advance

If the dot is on target then you are good to go. That is why target acquisition is so much faster than open sights. The only adjustment you may need to make will be dependent on the gap between the sight and the bore, which will largely affect close-up shots (less than 5m).

Use your eyes. Point the optic at something. Does the point of impact change if you move your head?
