So I've used a variety of sights over the years but never a red dot. I just purchased a JR 9mm for plinking and decided I'd get an RDS for it. After extensive research and reading quite a few reviews I settled on a Vortex Optics Strikfire (red only). The build quality seems quite good for the $225 I paid (delivered) from Millbrook Tactical however I do have one concern. On the inside of the optical tube, with the sight turned on, there are these relatively bright 'rings' or 'halos' of red light which seem to me to be very distracting. The following picture is illustrative but looks worse than real life by a factor of about 2:
Can anyone tell me if this is normal for this type of optic in general? If not, is it a defect with the sight or is this a characteristic of the strikefire itself? Thanks!
